Today, we're going to be thinking about how God wants our businesses to grow. Have you ever felt rushed to make your business bigger right away? Maybe you've seen others zoom ahead while you're taking things step by step. It can be hard to stay patient when everyone talks about fast growth and quick success. In Proverbs 28:20, God tells us that being faithful leads to blessings, but rushing to get rich brings problems. This reminds us that how we grow matters just as much as how big we get.

Jesus knew we would struggle with patience, so He told a story about a tiny mustard seed that grows into a large tree. The seed doesn't turn into a tree overnight - it takes time, good soil, water, and sunlight. What if our businesses are meant to grow like that seed? Steady, strong, and at the right pace. When we push for fast growth without strong roots, we might end up with something that can't stand through tough times. As we pray today, let's ask God to help us see our businesses through His eyes - not rushing ahead, but growing steadily with strong foundations that will last.

Let's Pray

Heavenly Father,

I come to You today with my business plans and dreams in my hands. Sometimes I feel pressure to rush ahead, to grow bigger faster, to keep up with others around me. Help me remember Your words in Proverbs that faithfulness brings blessings, while hastening to be rich brings trouble.

Give me the patience to build my business the way You build Your kingdom - like that tiny mustard seed that grows into something strong and lasting. When I'm tempted to take shortcuts or push for quick profits, remind me that strong roots take time to grow. Help me make decisions that honor You, even when they don't bring immediate results.

Thank You for the business You've entrusted to me. I'm grateful for every customer, every opportunity, and every lesson learned along the way. Show me how to be a faithful steward of what You've given me.

Lord, I ask for wisdom to know the difference between healthy growth and quick expansion. Help me build something that serves others well and glorifies You. Give me courage to stand firm when others rush past me, trusting that Your timing is perfect.

I place my business in Your capable hands, believing that when I seek Your kingdom first, everything else will fall into place.

I pray this with confidence in the powerful name of Jesus.

Amen.

Journaling Prompts

  • How might God be asking me to redefine "success" in my business? Is there a difference between what the world calls successful and what God might call successful?

  • How does the image of a mustard seed growing into a tree speak to my current business situation? What small, faithful steps can I take today?

  • If I knew my business would definitely succeed but would take twice as long as I hoped, how would that change my decisions and attitude today?

May we find peace in building our businesses God's way, one faithful step at a time. Remember that the strongest trees grow slowly, developing deep roots that weather any storm. As we move forward with patience and wisdom, we can trust that God's blessings follow faithfulness rather than hurry. Let's grow our businesses like mustard seeds - small beginnings that lead to something truly remarkable.

Until next time,
May the Lord bless you and keep you;
May He make His face shine upon you;
And be gracious to you and give you peace

God Bless!
