Today, we're going to explore how putting God's kingdom first can transform our everyday choices. Think about the last big decision you made. Did you first ask what God might want?

Jesus taught us to seek God's kingdom above everything else. When we make this our top priority, our choices begin to look different. We start to see opportunities to show love, share kindness, and build others up in ways we might have missed before. Our problems don't magically disappear, but we gain a clearer view of what truly matters.

This way of living frees us from constant worry about having enough. Jesus promised that when we seek God's kingdom first, our needs will be taken care of. This doesn't mean we'll get everything we want, but it does mean God will provide what we truly need.

Imagine how your life might change if every choice began with "What would put God's kingdom first?" rather than "What's best for me?" The shift might feel small at first, but over time, it creates a completely different path. As we prepare to pray, let's open our hearts to this kingdom view that can bring both purpose and peace to our daily decisions.

Let's Pray

Loving Father,

Thank You for being with me right now. I come to You with my decisions, both big and small. Your Word teaches me to "seek the Kingdom of God above all else," but honestly, I often put my own wants first.

Help me see my choices through Your eyes. When I'm deciding how to spend my time, show me opportunities to serve others. When I'm figuring out how to use my money, guide me toward generosity. When I'm choosing my words, fill me with kindness and truth.

I struggle with wanting to control everything and make decisions based on what feels safe or comfortable. Sometimes I worry that putting Your kingdom first might cost me too much. Forgive me for those fears.

Thank You for promising to take care of me when I seek You first. Thank You for the peace that comes when I trust Your way over mine. I'm grateful that You care about every detail of my life.

Give me the courage to ask "What would put Your kingdom first?" before making choices today. Help me recognize Your gentle nudges toward better paths.

I trust that when I focus on Your priorities, You'll provide everything I truly need. Thank You for Your faithfulness even when my faith is small.

In Jesus' name, I pray with hope and confidence that Your way is always best.

Amen.

Journaling Prompts

  • What area of your life is hardest to surrender to God's priorities? Why do you think that's especially difficult for you?

  • Imagine describing "seeking God's kingdom first" to a child. What simple examples would you use to help them understand this concept?

  • What fears come up when you think about putting God's kingdom before your own desires? Talk honestly with God about those concerns.

As we close, remember that kingdom-first decisions don't have to be complicated—they simply require us to pause and consider God's perspective before acting. Each time we choose His priorities over our own, we build a life that better reflects His goodness and love. May this week bring new opportunities to trust God's promises and watch how putting His kingdom first transforms not just our decisions, but our hearts.

Until next time,
May the Lord bless you and keep you;
May He make His face shine upon you;
And be gracious to you and give you peace.

God Bless!
