Sometimes we know exactly what God wants us to do. We feel it deep in our hearts. We sense His direction. But then fear shows up and plants itself right in our path. It tells us we're not ready, not strong enough, not qualified. Fear has a way of making us forget every promise God has ever spoken over our lives. Today, we're going to talk about pushing past that fear and stepping into what God has already called us to do. This prayer matters because so many of us are stuck—not because God hasn't spoken, but because we're afraid to move.

Short Devotional

Fear is not new. Every person God has ever used faced moments when they felt afraid. Moses stood before a burning bush and made excuses. Gideon hid in a winepress. Esther risked her life to speak up. What made the difference wasn't that their fear went away—it was that they moved anyway. They trusted that God's presence was bigger than any threat standing before them. When we let fear make our decisions, we miss out on the very things God designed us to experience.

Here's something to think about: What if the thing we're most afraid to do is exactly where God wants to meet us? Notice in today’s verse that David doesn't say there's nothing to fear. He says God is greater than anything that could threaten us. When we truly believe that, fear loses its grip. We can take that next step—not because we're brave, but because we serve a God who goes before us.

Let's Pray

Heavenly Father,

I come to You right now, knowing that You see me and You hear me. You know the dreams You have placed in my heart.

You know the things You have called me to do. And You also know the fear that has been holding me back.

Lord, Your Word says that You are my light and my salvation. If that is true—and I believe it is—then I have no reason to be afraid.

You are my fortress. You protect me from danger. So why do I let fear stop me?

Today, I bring my fear to You. I name it. I admit that it has kept me from moving forward. I have let it speak louder than Your voice. I have let it convince me that I am not ready, not enough, not capable. But that is not what You say about me.

Help me to trust You more than I trust my fears. Give me the courage to take the next step, even when my heart feels uncertain.

Remind me that You have never left me and You never will. When fear tries to rise up, help me remember who walks beside me.

Thank You for being patient with me. Thank You for not giving up on me. I believe that You will finish what You started in my life.

In the powerful name of Jesus, I pray.

Amen.

Journaling Prompts

  • What is one thing you believe God has called you to do that fear has kept you from starting?

  • If fear were not a factor at all, what would your life look like one year from now?

  • What is one small, specific action you can take this week to move toward what God has placed on your heart?

We are so glad you spent this time in prayer and reflection. Remember, courage is not the absence of fear—it's choosing to trust God anyway. May this week bring you new strength and fresh boldness to step into everything God has for you.

Until next time,
May the Lord bless you and keep you;
May He make His face shine upon you;
And be gracious to you and give you peace.

God Bless!
