We live in a world that often judges people by what they own or how much money they make. It's easy to treat someone differently based on their job, their clothes, or where they live. But God sees things completely differently than we do. Today, we're going to talk about how God views all people as equally valuable, no matter what their bank account looks like. This prayer time will help us ask God to change our hearts and help us see others the way He sees them.

Short Devotional

Jesus spent time with both rich and poor people during His time on earth. He ate dinner with wealthy tax collectors and also fed crowds of hungry, poor families. He never treated anyone as more or less important because of their money. Jesus showed us that God cares about the heart, not the wallet. Throughout the Bible, we see that God's love isn't based on what people can afford or what they own.

How do we act when we meet someone who is very different from us financially? Do we assume the person with expensive clothes is smarter or more important? Do we avoid eye contact with someone who looks like they're struggling? These moments show us what's really in our hearts. When we bring these honest thoughts to God in prayer, He can help us see people the way He does.

Let's Pray

Heavenly Father,

I come to You today knowing that You are here with me right now. Thank You for loving me just as I am, not because of what I own or how much money I have.

Your Word in Proverbs 22:2 reminds me that "The rich and poor have this in common: The Lord made them both." Help me to really understand this truth in my heart, not just my head.

I confess that I sometimes judge people by their appearance or what they can do for me. I'm ashamed to admit that I treat wealthy people with more respect than those who are struggling financially.

I make assumptions about people's character based on their clothes, their car, or their job. Forgive me for seeing people through the world's eyes instead of Yours.

Thank You for creating every person with equal worth and dignity. Thank You for loving the homeless person just as much as the millionaire.

Help me to see Your image in everyone I meet today. Give me the courage to speak kindly to people regardless of their economic status. Show me practical ways to build friendships across different social circles.

Change my heart, Lord. Help me to value what You value. When I'm tempted to show favoritism to someone because they're wealthy, remind me that You show no partiality.

Give me Your eyes to see the beauty and worth in every person You've created. Help me love others the way You love me.

In Jesus' powerful name I pray,

Amen.

Journaling Prompts

  • Think about a time when you made assumptions about someone based on how they looked or dressed. How did those assumptions affect how you treated them?

  • Describe a relationship you have (or could have) with someone from a very different economic background than yours. What barriers exist, and how might God want you to overcome them?

  • How do you think God feels when He sees His children treating each other differently based on money or social status? What would He want to say to you about this?

God wants to change our hearts so we can love people the way He does. As we practice seeing others through His eyes, we'll find our relationships becoming richer and more meaningful. Remember that every person you meet today was created by the same loving God who created you. We're excited to continue growing together in our next prayer time as we learn more about living like Jesus.

Until next time,
May the Lord bless you and keep you;
May He make His face shine upon you;
And be gracious to you and give you peace

God Bless!
