Bible Verse
Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Today, we're going to talk about something that can change everything about how we pray. Have you ever felt like giving up when your prayers seem to go unanswered? We've all been there, wondering if God really hears us or if we're just talking to the ceiling. The truth is, God wants us to keep praying, keep asking, and never stop knocking on His door. This isn't about bothering God or being pushy - it's about building a relationship where we trust Him enough to keep coming back.
Matthew 7:7-8 in the New Living Translation gives us a powerful promise: "Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened." Notice how Jesus uses the words "keep on" - this isn't about praying once and walking away. It's about staying connected to God through all of life's ups and downs. Today's prayer will help us focus on asking God for the things that really matter: wisdom to make good choices, strength to grow in character, and the ability to live like Jesus did. When we pray for these things and keep knocking on God's door, we're asking for gifts that will last forever.
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father,
I come to You today knowing that You hear every word I pray. Thank You for the promise that when I keep asking, seeking, and knocking, You will answer me.
I'm grateful that You never get tired of me coming to You, even when I bring the same struggles and questions over and over again.
God, sometimes I get discouraged when my prayers don't seem to be answered the way I hope. Help me remember that You always hear me and that Your timing is perfect.
Instead of focusing only on changing my circumstances, I want to ask You for the things that will change my heart.
Give me wisdom to make choices that honor You. When I face difficult decisions, help me seek Your guidance first. I want to grow in character and become more like Jesus every day.
Show me areas where I need to change, and give me the strength to actually do it. Help me love others the way You love me, even when it's hard.
Father, I ask for the ability to live as Jesus taught. Help me be patient when others frustrate me, kind when people are unkind to me, and generous even when I feel like keeping things for myself.
When I want to give up on prayer, remind me to keep knocking on Your door.
Thank You for being such a good Father who gives good gifts to Your children. I trust that You know what I need better than I do.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
Journaling Prompts
What specific area of your character do you most want God to help you change, and why is this important to you right now?
Think about a time when you stopped praying about something because you got discouraged. How might that situation have been different if you had kept knocking?
If Jesus were living your exact life today, how do you think He would handle your biggest current challenge differently than you are handling it?
Remember, God delights in your prayers and wants you to keep coming to Him with everything on your heart. The beautiful thing about persistent prayer is that it changes us as much as it changes our circumstances. As you continue to ask for wisdom, character growth, and the strength to live like Jesus, you'll find that God is faithful to answer in ways that are better than you could imagine. Keep knocking - the door is always open for you.
Until next time,
May the Lord bless you and keep you;
May He make His face shine upon you;
And be gracious to you and give you peace
God Bless!
