Today, we're going to be looking at how God gives us strength during difficult times. The eagle shows us an amazing picture of how to handle tough situations. Instead of hiding from storms, eagles actually use the strong winds to fly higher than they could on their own. They don't fight against the wind—they work with it. This helps them use less energy and reach greater heights than birds that constantly flap their wings. What if we could learn to face our problems the same way?
God wants us to wait on Him during our storms. When we try to handle everything by ourselves, we get tired quickly. But when we trust God's timing and power, He gives us new strength that goes beyond what we can do alone. Think about the challenges you're facing right now. Are you trying to escape them or avoid them? Or could God be inviting you to use those very difficulties as a way to rise higher with His help? Let's pray about how we can stop fighting our storms and instead use them to soar with God's power.
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father,
I come before You today, knowing You are the creator of the eagles and the controller of the winds. Thank You for being with me in every storm of my life. I admit that I often try to escape difficulties instead of seeing how You might use them to lift me higher.
Lord, when I face challenges at home, work, or in my relationships, help me remember Isaiah 40:31. Remind me that those who hope in You will renew their strength. When I feel overwhelmed by responsibilities and worries, teach me to wait on You instead of wearing myself out with constant flapping and striving.
I'm tired of fighting against the winds in my life. Show me how to position my wings—my faith and trust—to catch Your power instead. Help me see tough situations not just as problems to solve but as opportunities to experience Your strength in new ways.
Thank You for the promise that I can soar like an eagle, run without getting weary, and walk without fainting when I put my hope in You. Give me patience when waiting seems hard, and help me recognize when You're working even when I can't see it.
I surrender my need for control and ask for Your divine strength to lift me above my circumstances. I know that with You, I can rise higher than I ever could on my own.
In Jesus' name, I pray with confidence that You are faithful to Your promises,
Amen.
Journaling Prompts
What current "storm" in your life have you been trying to escape? How might God be inviting you to use it to rise higher?
When was a time you tried to handle a challenge through your own strength? How did it compare to a time when you relied on God's power?
Imagine yourself as an eagle soaring above a storm. What do your problems look like from God's perspective instead of your limited view?
Write about an area where you feel constantly exhausted from "flapping your wings." How might God be asking you to trust His power instead of your own efforts?
The storms of life will come and go, but God's promise to renew our strength remains unchanged. As we practice waiting on Him rather than exhausting ourselves with worry and self-effort, we'll begin to experience the freedom of soaring above our circumstances. May we all learn the eagle's secret—that sometimes the very winds that seem against us are what God uses to lift us higher than we could ever go on our own.
Until next time,
May the Lord bless you and keep you;
May He make His face shine upon you;
And be gracious to you and give you peace
God Bless!
